Is Yatzy online free to play?+
Yes. Yatzy is completely free here, with no download, no app install, and no sign-up. The game runs directly in your browser on phones, tablets and computers. You can play against the computer or pass the device between two players.
What is the difference between Yatzy and Yahtzee?+
Yatzy is the traditional Scandinavian dice game and the name is public domain. Yahtzee is Hasbro's trademarked commercial version. The two share the same core idea of rolling five dice across three rolls, but Yatzy adds categories like One Pair and Two Pairs, scores straights as fixed values (15 and 20), and gives a 50-point upper bonus instead of 35.
How many dice do you use in Yatzy?+
Standard Yatzy uses five six-sided dice. The Scandinavian variant Maxi Yatzy uses six dice and adds extra categories. You get up to three rolls per turn and can hold any dice between rolls.
How do you win at Yatzy?+
You win by scoring the most total points after all fifteen categories are filled. That means choosing the best category for each roll, chasing the 50-point upper bonus by averaging three of each number in the upper section, and saving flexible categories like Chance for rolls that do not fit anywhere else.
Can I play Yatzy with friends?+
Yes. Choose the two-player pass-and-play mode to share one device and take turns. Online play with friends on separate devices is on the roadmap. You can also print our free score sheet to keep score in a physical game.
